Information and Documentation
Allotments in Beckington:
The Parish Council is to be given some land at the end of the David Wilson Homes development to turn into Allotment gardens.
Back in early 2019 a few appeals were made by the Parish Council for volunteers who wanted an allotment to come forward and for them to do all the groundwork to set up the plots and for an Allotment Association.
Throughout 2019 this group of volunteers met, formed into a formal group, carried out many days of work mapping out and dividing up the land and drafting out legal agreements with the Parish Council ready for the day when the land is transferred over to the Parish Council.
As of April 2020, the land is still in the ownership of David Wilson Homes, so it still isn't possible for the Parish Council to formally rent out plots to anyone. However, David Wilson Homes have given permission for the volunteers who have been involved from the beginning to cultivate their plots.
Once the current pandemic has subsided the Parish Council will push ahead with the legal transfer of the land and once that is completed a waiting list will be opened. It is unlikely that any of this will be intime of the 2020 growing season. Please do keep any eye on this page for further information hopefully by the end of the summer 2020.
