Parish Council News for October 2019
Looking forward to Spring:
The Parish Council has purchased may hundreds of spring bulbs that are to be planted at some of the entrances coming into Beckington. This project was one of the final projects to be completed under the old Bettering Beckington (2015) survey.
Bettering Beckington 2019/23 Survey:
After the local elections in 2015, the Parish Council held a public meeting to gather ideas and then put out a public survey so that residents could indicate what they saw as a priority for the Parish Council to focus on. Over the following four years Members of the Council have been working extremely hard to deliver the top priorities from the original 2015 survey.
At the Parish Council meeting in October the Council reviewed the top priorities from the 2015 survey and of the projects that are under the control of the Parish Council, all but one had been achieved, even a few that were lower on the list had been completed as well.
This year was again a local elections year, so it is time to once again ask residents to say what they think should be the Parish Councils priorities. In last month's Network Mag, you should have received a letter inviting you to a consultation event - Bettering Beckington 2019/23 - this took place on Thursday 26th October. Don't worry if you missed this as you can always email in your suggestion to the Parish Clerk. The ideas that have been collected will be sorted through, any that are matters for Somerset County Council or Mendip District Council will be sent to them, ideas that are left that the Parish Council could deliver or have influence over will be put into a survey for residents to indicate their priority.
